Telehealth apps are becoming commonplace after the Covid-19 pandemic. The amount of the population who said they would use telehealth increased by 29% after the pandemic. The healthcare industry could potentially save a quarter-trillion dollars by fully utilizing these apps (Bestsennny et. al., 2021).
Doctor-on-demand, Teledoc, and Amwell all offer virtual video doctor visits. The differences and benefits of each app will be examined and compared in the paragraphs following.
Doctor-on-demand is a mobile app that some insurances will accept, like Walmart's health plan. It offers virtual doctor visits as a smooth experience for its consumers as it allows for both future appointments and on demand immediate visits.
Teladoc is an affordable app for those who don't have insurance as it costs 75.00 per visit. Included in the options, along with doctors, are coaches and dieticians. Also, they can prescribe medicine through it, it offers multiple languages, and it offers health monitoring tools (Digital Scientists, 2024).
Amwell is accepted by most insurance companies and offers evidence-based treatment plans from doctors and mental health professionals. It also gets input from electronic health records thereby creating a seamless and error free visit (Digital Scientists, 2024).
These are some of the most well-known apps for telehealth. The smart healthcare organizations and patients will take advantage of these applications and save money while getting more immediate and convenient service.
